Classic Uzbekistan by Train: 8 Days

Meet and greet at Tashkent International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon to rest. In the evening, transfer to a local restaurant for dinner and back.

A full day in Tashkent: the Khast Imam complex, Chorsu Bazaar, Independence Square, Amir Timur Square, the famous metro stations and the city centre, with a lunch break along the way.

Breakfast box, then an early high-speed train to Samarkand. After check-in and lunch, an afternoon tour of Registan Square and the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum.

Drive out to the memorial complex of the great Islamic scholar Imam al-Bukhari. Back in Samarkand, visit the Ulugh Beg Observatory and a traditional paper-making or handicraft workshop, then Shah-i-Zinda, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and Siyob Bazaar.

Train to Bukhara and check-in at a centrally located hotel. In the afternoon, a walk through the old town until sunset: the Lyab-i Hauz ensemble, the trading domes, the Magoki Attori Mosque and Chor Minor.

Morning visit to the Bahauddin Naqshband complex, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Uzbekistan and the heart of the Naqshbandi Sufi tradition. In the afternoon: the Po-i-Kalyan complex and Kalyan Minaret, Mir-i-Arab Madrasa, the Ark Fortress, the Bolo Hauz Mosque, the Samanid Mausoleum and Chashma Ayub.

Fast train to Khiva and check-in at a boutique hotel. In the afternoon, explore Itchan Kala, the walled old city: Ata Darvaza, the Kalta Minor minaret, the Muhammad Amin Khan and Muhammad Rahim Khan madrasas, Kunya-Ark, the Juma Mosque, Tash Khauli Palace, the Islam Khoja complex and the Pakhlavan Mahmoud Mausoleum, depending on the train's arrival time.

Breakfast, depending on your flight time, and transfer from Khiva to Urgench International Airport.
